RAYMOND FISKE - RIP

A great loss to the Friends of Hank Snow Society with the death of our friend and comrade Raymond Fiske yesterday. Raymond was a well known member of the Queens County society as a fantastic volunteer and community member. His contributions to the Hank Snow Society and the upkeep of the Museum were innumerable. Raymond and Debbie were Board members and helped with every aspect of the organization. Raymond spent many years as Treasurer of the Board until his health didn't allow that. He put his hands to anything that had to be done. Raymond was particular about the grounds of the Museum and Gazebo and Park area. He often recruited his grandsons to mow or whippersnip whenever they were available. Two of his grandchildren were Summer Students in the Museum. Every year you could find him helping put up the Yellow Striped Tent at Hank Snow and more recently he said he physically couldn't help but he could "supervise" and he did !!! Raymond loved sports and music. His grandchildren kept him up to date in both of these. His love of people made him a consummate volunteer not only to organizations who needed his skill set but also to the man on the street who needed something and he could be seen regularly driving folks around to appointments etc. He was Volunteer of the Year under the Ripple Effect of the Municipality. He was a past Councillor and spent many years at Hillsview Manor as Administrator. Raymond was a man of not only convictions but a man of his word. Cancer may have taken him but we will remember his great smile even when he lost his hair. He sent us his picture recently and we told him he looked like Yul Brynner the actor. He will be missed and we send our condolences to our friend Debbie, their children and grandchildren and his many friends. We are desolate at our loss. RIP Raymond !! ... See MoreSee Less
