HANK SNOW MUSEUM NOW OPEN BY CHANCE OR BY APPOINTMENTVina was so pleased to have so much help this summer with the Summer Students and many volunteers and musicians who made the summer events successful. As she will soon be resigning as Administrator, which she has been doing as a volunteer for several years, help organizing the administrative portion of the Museum was imperative.Summer Students Sydney Hohlweg, Jackson Carver and Hope Stanton completed their summer rotations at the end of August. This means the Museum who has no full time or part time staff but rather is run by volunteers now is open By Chance or By Appointment only. Appointments can be booked if volunteers are available to man the Museum for tours. Each Wednesday at noon, the BBQ & Shows over at the Gazebo Park area across from the Museum will still be held and the possibility of having the Museum open most Wednesdays now exists as volunteers may be available on that day. The BBQ & Shows are planned to continue through the month of September and possibly into October depending on the weather. This year the summer students with only Jackson having former experience at the Museum were above average. The two students added to the staff turned out to be a windfall for our organization.Jackson Carver returned for another year after beginning High School in Caledonia. He was on staff last year and we enjoyed having him with us and were so pleased he was willing to return this year. He is a great salesman and the Gift Shop has been busy with him in attendance. With all the tasks that needed to be undertaken including helping organize the Archive Room, he was able to organize and do tasks that needed physical effort with thanks from the rest of the staff. Jackson also kept the grounds neat on his days off as we hired him to do lawn and yard work as well. We know that Jackson will do well at High School again this year and look forward to hearing from him as he looks forward to working on his future plans to attend Community College when he completes High School. We understand he would like to work next summer in a summer job that will be more in line with his future plans and if he changes his mind, we told him if possible we would look forward to his being part of our staff again.Sydney Hohlweg is a Kings University student who lives in Brooklyn with her parents. She moved here from British Columbia and we are so happy she came to Queens County as she is truly a gem and loves Museums and Archival work. Her personality has made her friends of all she meets. She did very good tours and has studied diligently about Hank Snow and country music. Sydney has worked well to keep the Museum up to date. She designed the Certificates we are giving to all our wonderful sponsors and volunteers and Musicians. We will miss her as she continues at Kings University and look forward if possible to having her return to our Museum staff next summer.Hope Stanton joined as an Admin Assistant to assist Vina, the Administrator, and was a welcome addition She comes to us from Liverpool High School which she will again attend in Grade 1 1 this year. She has an enterprising nature and it seems as though she has been part of our team forever. Hope put her mind to whatever challenge we put forward and always with enthusiasm. She designed the Tribute Musicians Booklet and because she is very creative helped with many projects that required innovation. We look forward to having Hope volunteer during this school year and having her return if possible to the Museum staff next summer.
